Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has taken a dig at the Modi government over the rising number of coronavirus cases and increasing petrol prices. While coronavirus cases crossed 4.56 lakh on Wednesday, petrol and diesel prices in India have been hiked every day over the past two weeks.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi said, “Modi government has ‘unlocked’ the coronavirus pandemic and prices of petrol-diesel.”
Rahul Gandhi has continued to mount attacks on the Modi government. He has also raised question on Modi government’s handling of the Ladakh border situation with China after the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers.

Petrol was priced at Rs 79.76/litre with no increase on Wednesday in Delhi while diesel was priced at Rs 79.88/litre after an increase of Rs 0.48. With the latest hike, diesel prices have gone past petrol, which is against the normal.
On the other hand, as India continues to ease restrictions of the coronavirus lockdown, Covid cases have seen a continuous rise. On Wednesday, India witnessed the biggest single day spike of nearly 16,000 cases and over 450 Covid deaths.
Coronavirus count in India has crossed 4.56 lakh while the death toll is over 14,400.
